Donald O. Snyder, age 84, 219 Dahl Road, Bloomsburg, died at 3:35 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient since Sunday. He was in failing health for one month.

Born in Hemlock Township on Aug. 22, 1925, he was a son of the late Albert and Alma (Rarig) Snyder. He resided in the Buckhorn area most of his lifetime and was a 1943 graduate of Bloomsburg High School.

Donald was employed as a foreman in the dye house of the former Magee Carpet Co. for over 40 years, retiring in 1987.

He was a member of the Buckhorn United Methodist Church where he was superintendent of the Sunday School for many years.

Donald was an active member of Gideons International for many years. He also was a former Boy Scout leader and also a Club Scout leader.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Elsie Wintersteen, on Sept. 15, 2007; by a brother, Earl Snyder; and by a sister, Lorene Fisher.

Surviving are three sons: Steven P. Snyder and his wife, Ann, at home; Gary L. Snyder and his wife, Denise, Millsboro, Del.; Dean D. Snyder and his wife, Nancy, Shermansdale; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Janice Kitchen, Danville; and a brother, Charles Snyder, and his wife, Ruth, Millville.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with his pastor, the Rev. Ralph B. Hartenbach, officiating. Interment in Columbia Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 1-2 p.m.
