Donald E. Swisher
Donald E. Swisher, age 88, 126 Styer Road, Danville, died unexpectedly at his home and was pronounced dead on Sunday morning, December 22, 2013.
Born in Bloomsburg on October 24, 1925, he was a son of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Rambo) Swisher. He attended the Bloomsburg public schools and resided in West Hemlock Township, Montour County for over 60 years.
Don was last employed at the Muncy Homes, Inc., Muncy as a truck driver, working there for 30 years until retiring in 1990. Earlier he was employed as a truck driver for the former Keller's Creamery. He also farmed at his home throughout his lifetime.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, the former Martha M. Haladay on May 27, 2013; and by two brothers: Harold Swisher and Gerald Swisher.
Surviving are five daughters: Darlene Stine, Danville; Linda, wife of Rusty Whitner, Fairplay, Colo.; Diane Campbell, Catawissa; Susan, wife of Steven Krum and Lisa, wife of David Gray, all of Danville; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Carl Swisher, and his wife Carol, Danville.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a. m. in the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1715 Bloom Road, Danville, with the Rev. Allen F. Acor, pastor of the Hendrickson-Mooresburg United Methodist Churches officiating. Interment in New Rosemont Cemetery, Bloomsburg.
