Dorothy V. Arnold
Dorothy V. Arnold, age 94, 330 W. Third St., Bloomsburg, died at 4:46 p. m., Thursday, August 7, 2014 at the Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital where she was admitted earlier in the day. She had been ill for two weeks.
Born in Fairview, Maryland on December 13, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Edward L. and Emma D. (Cullers) Ritchie. She was a 1937 graduate of Oakland High School, Oakland, Maryland.
Dorothy held various jobs as a receptionist in the areas where she lived, the last being in West Chester.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Newtown Square, where she was a former deaconess. She loved to sing and dance and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Harry M. Arnold, on August 11, 1982.
Surviving are a daughter, Jeanette R., wife of James D. Spaihts, Orangeville; a son, Theodore R. Arnold, and his wife Deborah E., West Chester; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Edith M. Gray, Accident, Maryland; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 4 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Dr. L. Lee Barnhardt, pastor of First English Baptist Church, Bloomsburg, officiating. Interment will be made on Tuesdayat 1 p. m. in the Eglon Lutheran Cemetery, Eglon, West Va. Friends may call from 3 - 4 p.m. Sunday.
