Dorothy J. Eckhart, age 73, 134 Huntington Creek Road, Sweet Valley,. died at 8:31 p. m. Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where she was a patient for one day. She had been in ill health for several years.

Born in Nanticoke on January 27, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Thelma (Burke) Wojtowicz.  She resided in the Fairmount Township/Sweet Valley area for over 50 years and had attended Newport High School and Elizabeth-Forward High School.

Dorothy was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Shickshinny American Legion Post. She enjoyed going to farmers markets, flea markets and collecting jeweley.

Surviving are her husband, Charles H. Eckhart, with whom she celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary on June 27, 2014; a son, Charles H. Eckhart, III, Catasauqua; a daughter, Ranee A. Eckhart, at home; two brothers: James Schraeder, and his wife Tracy, Muhlenburg and John Schraeder, and his wife Glenda, Rohrsburg; two sisters: Patricia, wife of Michael Steeber, Shickshinny and Linda, wife of Richard Kile, Elysburg.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no funeral services.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Benton.
