Dorothy D. (Shoemaker) Martz

Dorothy D. (Shoemaker) Martz, age 86, of Dahl Road, Bloomsburg died at 5:05 a. m. Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at the Glen Brook Rehabilitation and Health Care in Berwick.

Born in Danville on January 25, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Raymond J. and Mary A. (Griffin) Shoemaker. She was a 1955 graduate of Danville High School and a resident of Buckhorn for 56 years.

Dorothy was a dedicated homemaker and mother to her children.

She was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg.

Dorothy enjoyed painting ceramic cats, cooking, baking, and picnics. Her special time was the time spent with her husband and children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Allen N. Martz, on November 6, 2021 and a son, Steven Joseph Martz, on February 6, 2007.

Dorothy is survived by three children: Allen N. Martz, Jr., and his wife Cathy of Mifflinville, Angelia, wife of David Detrich of Berwick, Joe Martz who resided with her, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family, but has many nieces and nephews that survive.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at 11:00 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg with her pastor, Rev. Richard J. Mowery, officiating. Interment will follow in Elan Memorial Park at Lime Ridge. Viewing will be from 10-11 a. m.
