Dorothy M. Maurer-Pembleton

Dorothy M. “Dot”  Maurer-Pembleton, age 84, 409 E. Main St., Mahaffey, Clearfield County, died at 4:08 a. m. Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at the Columbia Montour Hospice At Maria Hall, Danville, where she was admitted Tuesday.

Born near Shamokin on December 11, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Ava (Ramer) Heim. She resided in Mahaffey for the past year and prior to that in Mifflinville. Much of her life was spent in Shamokin, where she  was an honors graduate of Shamokin High School in 1945.

Dot was employed as a sewing machine operator at the former Lark’s Dress Factory, Shamokin, as well as several other dress factories in the area.

She attended the Susquehanna Valley  Revival Center, Bloomsburg.

Dot enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and sewing. She also was a talented musician, playing the organ, piano and accordion.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Maurer in January, 2000; by a son, Robert G. Maurer, Sr. in August, 1996 and a brother, Daniel Heim.

Surviving are her husband, Rev. George J. Pembleton, whom she married on March 13, 2004; a daughter, Debrann, wife of Drexel E. LeVan, Bloomsburg, owners of LeVan’s Cornucopia; a step-daughter, Nancy, wife of Darl W. Morgan, Mahaffey; a grandson, Robert G. Maurer, Jr., Selinsgrove; a granddaughter, Vikki Lynn Maurer, wife of Bradley Garman, Florida; a step-granddaughter, Shawna Morgan, Mahaffey; a great-grandson, Andrew Maurer;  a great-granddaughter, Maddison Maurer; and a brother, George Heim, and his wife Dolly, Phoenixville.

Services will held on Saturday at 12 noon in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with Rev. Timothy L. Zimmerman, pastor of  Spirit Life Church, Bloomsburg, officiating. Interment in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington, Northumberland County.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a. m. to 12 noon.
