Dorothy G. Wagner, age 89, 40 Wagner Drive, Bloomsburg, died at 6:28 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2013 at her home after being in failing health for several years.
Born in Bloomsburg, Columbia County on February 13, 1924, she was a daughter of the late William L. âRoyâ and Mildred (Eddinger) Deitterick. A 1942 graduate of Bloomsburg High School, she spent the majority of her life in Hemlock Twp.
Dorothy was co-owner of Wagnerâs Orchard and Wagnerâs School Buses with her late husband for over 55 years, serving as a school bus driver until retiring in 2009 at the age of 85.
Dorothy was a member of Bloomsburg Church of the Nazarene for many years, and liked to help decorate for weddings. Most recently she was a member of First Baptist Church, Danville where she enjoyed participating in activities such as the choir and the flower committee. Other memberships include Hemlock Homemakers; the Hemlock 4-H Club; Ladies Auxiliary, Valley of Bloomsburg Post 273, American Legion; she was a 33 year member of the Bloomsburg Hospital Auxiliary, and she volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House, Danville.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, H. Eugene Wagner on June 28, 1999 and by a son, Rolland E. Wagner on January 20, 2009.
Surviving are three children: Sally J. Eckart, Bloomsburg; Barry L. Wagner, wife Pat, Lancaster and Douglas Z. Wagner, wife Patty, Bloomsburg; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and three sisters: Esther Neuhart, Tampa, Fla.; Alice Gilbert, Clearwater, Fla. and Julia Swartz, Duncannon.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg with her pastor, Rev. Dr. Harry H. Wonderland, Jr. officiating. Interment in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday 6-8 p.m. or Thursday 10-11 a.m.
