Douglas H. Fritz, Jr.

Douglas H. Fritz, Jr., of 1433 W. Front St., Berwick, passed away on Friday October 13, 2023 at his home after an illness.

Born on December 21, 1948 in Bloomsburg, he was the son of the late Douglas H., Sr. and Dorothy E. (Owen) Fritz. His early life was spent in the Benton area where he attended the Benton schools. He had been a Berwick resident since 2001.

Douglas served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era.

He was employed as a warehouse worker by the Press Enterprise for over 27 years, retiring in 2011.

Douglas was a member of the American Legion Post 564 in Millville. He was a shadetree mechanic and loved music.   

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Bowman.

Surviving is his son, Leonard E. Fritz, and his wife Irene, of Bloomsburg; daughter, Heather R., wife of Jeffery Breisch, whom resided with him; two grandsons, Nickolas Breisch, of Berwick, and Zackary Breisch, of Catawissa; six grandchildren: Marissa Gillespie, Jonathan Douglas Fritz, Edward L. Fritz, Branden Guise, Corin Martz, and Xavier Douglas Breisch; two great-granddaughters, Willow and Juniper Gillespie; three siblings: Robert E. Fritz, and his wife Lynn, of Orangeville, Gloria Fritz, of Bloomsburg, and Michael Fritz, and his wife Angelica, of Benton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Military honors will be conducted by the combined VFW and American Legion Honor Guard.
