Duane Leroy Kephart

Duane Leroy Kephart, age 86, 474 Sorbertown Hill, Hunlock Creek, died late Friday, March 18, 2016, at the Wilkes-Barre Veterans Administration Hospital in Plains Township.

Born on Nov. 12, 1929 at Sanborn, Clearfield County, he was a son of the late Gilbert Henry and Grace (Martin) Kephart.

Duane was employed by  Sears, Roebuck & Co., first in Kingston and later at the Wyoming  Valley Mall as a mechanic,  for 55 years, retiring in 2009.

He was a member of the former Christian Missionary Alliance Church, Nanticoke.

Duane served with the US Force during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Sheldon Kephart and a sister, Lois Cunyar.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, the former Lois Jane Hummel; three sons: Douglas Kephart, Hazleton; David Kephart, and his wife June, Huntington Mills;  Dean Kephart, Hunlock Creek; five grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family, followed by interment in Sorbertown Cemetery, Hunlock Creek.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home, Benton.
