E. Jean Stackhouse, age 88, 1296 Upper Raven Creek Road, Benton, died at 2:25 a. m. Friday, March 30, 2012 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where she was a patient for six days. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends.
Born on March 12, 1924 in Rohrsburg, she was a daughter of the late Victor R. and Elizabeth J. (Speary) Shultz. She resided in Raven Creek since 1946.
Jean was a 1942 graduate of the Benton Area High School.
She assisted her late husband, Ken, in operating the family farm, along with her son, Carl âCorkyâ, for many years and also drove a school bus for many years.
Jean was an active member of the Raven Creek Presbyterian Church and volunteered at the Raven Creek Trading Post operated by the Church.
Her friends and neighbors will miss her, along with her jokes and one liners.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth S. Stackhouse on Oct. 9, 1987, her step-father, George âHapâ Mordan; two brothers: Clyde A. Shultz and his wife Anna and Carl R. Shultz; and a niece, Shelva Jean Shultz.
Surviving is a son, Carl R.. âCorkyâ Stackhouse, and his wife Gina, Benton; three grandchildren: Amy Stackhouse, and her fianceeâ, Jacy Marquette, Bloomsburg; Jim Hartkorn, and his wife Shannon, Benton; Ken Hartkorn, Nantucket, Mass; and two great-granddaughters: Rylan Hartkorn and Ava Hartkorn. She was the last of her immediate family.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a. m. in the Raven Creek Cemetery, with her pastor, Rev. Gary M. Emrick officiating. There will be no calling hours. Following the interment a meal will be served for the family and friends in the Raven Creek Community Hall at 12 noon.
The family will provide flowers. Memorials may be sent to the Raven Creek Presbyterian Church, 999 Upper Raven Creek Rd., Benton, PA 17814.
