Edith “Edie” (Neyhard) Barton, age 91, 1100 Colonial Street, Bloomsburg, died Monday morning, Oct. 25, 2021, at the Grandview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Danville.

Born on Dec. 7, 1929 in Bloomsburg, she was a daughter of the late John R. and Louise (Gibbs) Neyhard. She was the last survivor of eight siblings: Ralph Neyhard, Robert Neyhard, Carl Neyhard, Skyles Neyhard, Donald Neyhard, Mary Baker and Anna Turock. She was a 1947 graduate of Bloomsburg High School.

Edie was employed for nearly 34 years at Bloomsburg University. She started working as an accounts payable clerk in 1965. Her career progressed to the position of Bloomsburg University Book Store manager from which she retired on December 31, 2000.

Upon retirement she volunteered for the English as a Second Language program through CMSU which she greatly enjoyed and made special long lasting friendships.

Edie’s greatest joy in life was her family. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who called her “Nana”. She modeled the values of resiliency, kindness and acceptance. She had an amazing ability to celebrate everyone’s uniqueness and to make each family member feel special. She always emphasized the importance of education and was extremely proud of every family member’s accomplishments. Edie created memories and long lasting traditions that will forever be celebrated by all who loved her.

Edie is survived by her five children:  Gena, wife of Daniel Bauman, Jr., Rocky Mount, N.C., Susan, wife of Edward Maciejewski, Catawissa, John Barton and his wife Kim, Bloomsburg, Jan Barton, who resided with her, Leigh wife of Paul Francola, Bloomsburg; her 11 grandchildren: Kristen Tedford (Craig), Brian Bauman (Barrett Bayer), Nicholas Bauman (Maring Higa), Thomas Maciejewski, ((Jamie), Jillian Venkateswaran (Dinesh), Patrick Maciejewski, Andrew Barton (Emilee), Todd Barton, Colin Barton, Melissa Anceravage (Stephen) and Marc Francola (Nicole); 16 great-grandchildren: Emma, Jackson and Lauren Tedford, Ryu Allen and Mia Bauman, Edie and Clara Maciejewski, Asha, Skyles, Parker and Gracyn Venkateswaran, Avery and Caleb Barton, Stephen (SJ) and Gabriel Anceravage and Josephine Francola.

Edie has requested a private family celebration of her life be held at a future time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Agape, 19 E. Seventh St., Bloomsburg or the Bloomsburg Food Cupboard, 342 Iron St., Bloomsburg, PA 17815.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
