EDMOND H. "Ed" HODGES
Edmond H. "Ed" Hodges, age 74, 15 S. Smith Road, Danville died at his home at 7:15 a. m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011 after being seriously ill for six weeks.
Born in Fontana, Calif., on Nov. 6, 1936, he was a son of the late Edward C. and Juanita K. (Webb) Hodges. He resided in Rush Township, Northumberland County for the past 11 years and previously lived in Muncy.
Ed served with the US Air Force from 1954 to 1974 when he retired. He served in Quam and the Azore Islands and retired with the rank of sergeant.
Following retirement he was employed by the Chlorox Corp. as a warehouse supervisor at various locations from 1976 to 1993. He was then employed by Penn College of Technology, Williamsport and last at Alexander Motors, Bloomsburg, last working six months ago.
Ed was always ready to help friends and family, give advice or cook a meal. He will be missed by friends and family alike.
Surviving are his wife, who was the love of his life, Connie J. Albeck Oberdorf, whom he married on Sept. 28, 1991 and they celebrated 20 years of marriage last month. Also surviving are a daughter, Janette O'Hair and a son, Mark Hodges, both of Sparks, Nev.; six step-children: Dianne Oberdorf, Bloomsburg; Carla, wife of Don Jones, Watsontown; Ralph Oberdorf, II, Hummels Wharf; Mark Oberdorf, and his wife Clara Washingtonville; Arthur Oberdorf, and his wife Chris, Arnold, Md.; Gayanne, wife of Thomas Spezialetti, Berwick; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and a sister, Kay, wife of Robert Rayzer, Discovery Bay, Calif.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Hodges.
At his request, there will not be any funeral services or viewing. Friends are asked to remember him with a contribution to the Pennsylvania SPCA, 2801 Bloom Road, Danville, PA 17821.
