Edna M. âEddieâ Doyle, age 99, formerly of 2650 Tower Road, Bloomsburg and Mt. Carmel, died at 2:58 a. m. Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010 at the Balanced Care At Bloomsburg, a nursing facility, where she was a guest since March, 2008.
Born in Mt. Carmel on Dec. 2, 1910, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Laura (Folweiler) Deitz. She attended the Mt. Carmel schools and was employed at the former J. J. Newberry Store, Mt. Carmel for over 30 years as a clerk and cashier, retiring in 1972. She moved to Bloomsburg 20 years ago.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Mt. Carmel.
Eddie knit a mountain of sweaters in her lifetime. She also loved to do puzzles, bake and cook, entertaining her family at dinner in her home until the age of 98. Above all she loved her family, especially her five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. âCappyâ Doyle in April, 1957; a sister, Marion Hamilton; and two brothers: Glenn Deitz and Charles âJackâ Dietz, to whom she was a mother during their lifetimes. Also she was preceded in death by a grandson, Timmy Doyle and a niece, Betty Lou.
She is survived by her daughter, Dolores (Dee), wife of Charles M. Brennan , Bloomsburg; two sons: Cyril (Cy) Doyle, Philadelphia and Hubert Doyle, Los Angeles, Calif.; her five beloved grandchildren: Kevin, Regine, Terry, Mark and Kelly; and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two nephews: George Hamilton, Glenn Dietz, and his wife Donna and a niece, Lori Dietz.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, at 11 a. m. in Grace Lutheran Church, 140 West Ave., Mt. Carmel. The Rev. Gordon E. Smith, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, Espy, will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 p. m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
The family will provide flowers. Memorials may be sent to a charity of the donorâs choice.
