Edward J. Makara, age 84, 633 Scotch Valley Drive, Bloomsburg, died at 8:27 a.m. Monday, Feb. 21, 2011 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was admitted Saturday. He had been seriously ill for three days.
Born in Hazleton on Dec. 3, 1926, he was a son of the late Steven and Mary (Gallo) Makara. He resided in the Bloomsburg area for all his life.
Edward worked for ten years at the former Magee Carpet Company, Bloomsburg; and was last employed as a forklift driver at Royal Swan, Berwick.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and served during the Korean Conflict.
Edward enjoyed working outdoors, and feeding the wildlife.
He is survived by two brothers: George Makara, wife Arletta, Bloomsburg; and Daniel Makara, wife Edna, Bloomsburg; six nephews: Daniel J. Makara, Bloomsburg; Dennis, Robert, John, Eugene and Donald; and one niece, Shirley.
Memorial services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg. There will be no calling hours.
