Edward P. Scardigli, age 74, 10-B Mountain Road, Orangeville, died at his home at 5:45 p. m. Sunday, October 20, 2013 after being in failing health since January, 2011.
Born in Philadelphia on November 24, 1938, he was a son of the late Dominic and Jennie (Croupie) Scardigli. He resided at his current home since 1995 and previously lived in Philadelphia.
Ed was a 1956 graduate of Northeast Catholic High School, Philadelphia. He was employed by the City of Philadelphia as a professional firefighter for 27 years, retiring in 1995.
He was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church, Benton. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and fly fishing. Ed was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan.
Ed was a peacetime veteran, serving in the US Marine Corps from 1958 to 1961.
Surviving is his wife, the former Patricia Gray, with whom he celebrated his 32nd wedding anniversary on July 11, 2013; six children: Lisa Scardigli, Phila.; Mark Scardigli, and his companion Sue Robinson, Sewell, N.J.; Laura Scardigli, Phila.; Paul T. Sebzda, Holly Hill, Fla.; Mary Pat, wife of Tom Welch, Phila.; Joseph S. Sebzda, and his wife Tracy, Phila.; Beth Ann, wife of Gary Wolfe, Terra Alta, West Va.; 16 grandchildren, including Shane M. Scardigli and Ryan Z. Scardigli who resided with him; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Grace Collins, Gibsonia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 a. m. in Christ The King Catholic Church, Mendenhall Lane, Benton, by his pastor, Rev. Timothy D. Marcoe. Interment in Benton Cemetery. Viewing at the Church, Saturday 9:30 a. m. to 10:30 a. m.
The family will provide flowers. Memorials may be sent to the St. Nicholas Fund of Christ The King Church, Mendenhall Lane, Benton, PA 17814.
