EDWARD J. SUNDRA
Edward J. Sundra, age 88, 152 McGuire Park Drive, Bloomsburg, died at 7:20 a. m. Friday, March 8, 2013 at the Berwick Retirement Village II, where he was admittted on Friday.
Born in Hazleton on May 24, 1924, he was a son of the late Frank and Pauline (Holidick) Sundra.
Edward was a 1942 graduate of the former West Hazleton High School and resided in the Bloomsburg area since 1976 and formerly resided in Dallas.
He was employed for many years by the A & P Food Stores, Inc. in Northeast Pennsylvania as a manager and later as a supervisor.
Edward was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg.
He served with the US Army Air Corps during World War II, participating in the Campaigns in Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe.
Surviving are his wife, the former Agnes Kokinda, with whom he celebrated his 63rd wedding anniversary on Sept. 17, 2012; two daughters: Linda, wife of Thomas J. Kennedy, Harrisburg and Eileen, wife of Vincent K. Sott, Hanover; a son, James E. Sundra, and his wife Elisa, Media; five grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was the last of his immediate family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg, on Monday by his pastor, Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence. Interment will be in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.
