Elaine M. (Hess) Carpitella, age 75, of 304 Country Lane East, Orangeville (Stoney Brook Circle), died early Sunday, August 11, 2019, at the Berwick Retirement Village II where was a patient for two weeks.
Born in Almedia on May 29, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Arthur J. and Evelyn M. (White) Hess. She spent most of her life in the Bloomsburg area except for several years that she resided in Concord, New Hampshire. She was a 1962 graduate of Central Columbia High School.
Elaine was employed as a caregiver/companion for 25 years and prior to that she was employed in food service in a number of positions.
She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomsburg, where she was a LAM (Limited Activity Member) and was recognized as the LAM of the month for August.
Elaine was a New York Yankee fan and also enjoyed watching St. John's University basketball with her husband. She loved to bowl, fish and ice skate. As a young girl she played left field on a boys baseball team. She read the Upper Room on a daily basis. She enjoyed family vacations in Canada while growing up. Elaine and her husband watched Judge Judy on a daily basis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Emil Everhart.
Elaine and her husband, Joseph Carpitella, whom she married on June 10, 2006, had two wedding ceremonies, first at her church, Wesley United Methodist Church, and then at his church, St. Columba Catholic Church. Following the ceremonies, they honeymooned in Bermuda.
Elaine is survived by her husband, a sister, Janet A. Fisher and a brother, Richard L. Hess, both of Bloomsburg and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg. Interment will follow in Creveling Cemetery, Almedia. Viewing on Wednesday from 10 - 11 a. m.
