Elaine (Taylor) Hartman, age 88, of 9 Shawnee Road, Bloomsburg, died at her home at 7:15 p. m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019 after an illness of one year.

Born in Gary, Indiana on August 24, 1930, she was a daughter of the late T. Carl and Ruth (Gillaspy)_ Taylor. She was a 1948 graduate of Benton High School and also attended a business school in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She resided in Bloomsburg since 1962.

Elaine was employed by the former Columbia County Farmers National Bank for many years and last by the TIP  program at Bloomsburg University.

She was a 57 year member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomsburg, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women.  She  was a member of the PEO ; the Daughters of the American Colonists, Miquon Chapter; Daughters of the American Revolution, Ft. McClure Chapter; the Benton sewing club and the Recycled Teenagers Breakfast Group.  She also delivered Meals on Wheels.

Elaine's  greatest joy in life was her annual vacation at Avalon, New Jersey with her extended family, a family tradition for over 50 years.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Thomas R. Hartman, on Aug. 24, 2016 and by a brother, Richard Taylor.

Surviving are a daughter, Lisa, wife of Roy Schuetz, Greensburg; a son, Gregory, and his wife Rosemary, Shrewsbury; seven grandchildren: Laura wife of Tim George, Chicago, Ill; Eileen Schuetz, Seattle, Wash.; Caroline Schuetz, Irvine, Calif.; Alison Schuetz, Washington, D.C.;  Olivia Hartman, Grant Hartman and Victoria Hartman, all of Shrewsbury; a sister, Mary Ruth, wife of David Campbell, Mechanicsburg; a brother, Larry Taylor, and his wife Betty, Louisville, Tenn.; many nieces and nephews, including Patti Peterson who was her caregiver during the latter part of her illness.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 1:00 p. m.  in Wesley United Methodist Church, Market & West Third Streets, Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Rev. Mark F. Reisinger officiating. Interment will follow in the Benton Cemetery.  The family will greet friends from 12 to 1 p. m. Please use 130 W. Third Street entrance.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
