Eleanor R. Schauer
Eleanor R. Schauer, age 94, 1825 Fifth Street Hollow Road, Bloomsburg, died at 10:25 a. m. Friday, February 7, 2014, at Balanced Care At Bloomsburg, a health care facility in Scott Township where she resided for the past five years.
Born in Scott Township on January 19, 1920, she was the only child of the late Paul M. and Nola I. (Betz) Trembley. She was a lifelong resident of Scott Township and was a 1937 graduate of the former Scott Township High School.
Eleanor was last employed by the Central Columbia School District in the cafeteria as a cashier, working there for 18 years, retiring in 1988. Earlier she was employed at the former F. W. Woolworth Store on Main Street, Bloomsburg and by Milco Industries, Inc.
She was a devoted lifelong member of the Trinity United Methodist Church (formerly known as St. Paul's), Espy, where she served as organist for 44 years. In addition she served as choir director, bell choir director and as a member of the official board of the Church and the United Methodist Women.
Eleanor also served as a volunteer at Danville State Hospital, where she did shopping for the patients and read to them. She also vounteered for meals on wheels and many other activities.
Eleanor loved the outdoors, picnics with her family and friends; walking, enjoying nature and God's creatures, especially the plants. She loved gardening and always had a garden growing plants and vegetables which she shared with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Henry Schauer on February 16, 1976.
Surviving are four children: M. Linda, wife of Edward J. Kinn, Bloomsburg; William A. Moser, and his wife Connie, Berwick; John H. Schauer, at home; Faith R., wife of Richard D. Smith, Berwick; three grandchildren: Edward J. Kinn, and his wife Missy, Mt. Carmel; Ashton L., wife of Kenneth Richards, Berwick; Kristin M. Smith, Berwick; four great-grandchildren: Brandon J. Kinn, Chelsea, wife of Justin Slotterback and Sabrina and Kolby Dillon.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2 p. m. in Trinity United Methodist Church 2351 Old Berwick Road, Espy, with her pastor, Caleb J. Fritz officiating. Interment in Elan Memorial park, Lime Ridge. Viewing at the Church from 1-2 p. m.
