Elizabeth J. âBettyâ Beers, age 80, of 40 Eister Loop, Danville, died at 3:06 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2015 at SUN Home Hospice Care Center, Sunbury, where she was admitted Friday evening. She was in failing health for several years.
Born on September 30, 1934 in Tamaqua, she was a daughter of the late Jacob E. and Petranella F. (Fisher) Walters. She lived in the Danville area since 1969, and formerly lived in Hudsondale, Carbon County.
Betty was a 1951 graduate of Tamaqua High School, and was a homemaker most of her life.
She was a member of St. Josephâs Catholic Church, Danville; and the Valley Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
Betty enjoyed reading, writing short stories and traveling; especially cruises, having taken 19 of them.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: Ervin Walters and Donald Walters; and by five sisters: Matilda Miller, Kathryn Welker, Louise Mogilsky, Agnes Luksavage and Mary Coleman.
Surviving are her husband, Derek W. Beers, with whom she celebrated her 58th wedding anniversary on April 27, 2014; a daughter, Nancy A., wife of Thomas J. Fryc, Enola; a son, John D. Beers, wife Richelle Fessler, Bloomsburg; a granddaughter, Chelsea R. Fryc, Enola; and a number of nephews and nieces.
Private services will be held from the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1715 Bloom Road, Danville, with her pastor, Rev. Tri Luong officiating. Interment in Union Cemetery, Weatherly, Carbon County. There will be no calling hours.
The family will provide flowers. Memorials may be sent in her memory to Camp Victory, 58 Camp Victory Road, Millville, PA 17846.
