Elizabeth M. âBettyâ Scheib, age 83, 51 Sunny Slope Road, Stillwater (New Columbus), died at 10:10 a. m. Saturday, April 13, 2013, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where she was admitted Friday. She was in failing health for several years.
Born in Philadelphia on Aug. 31, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Michael A. and Elizabeth E. (Evans) Pluguez. She was a graduate of Little Flower Catholic High School, Philadelphia, in 1947.
Betty resided in Philadelphia until moving to New Columbus in 1970, where she was a homemaker and mother.
She was a member of St. Marthaâs Catholic Church, Stillwater.
Betty was preceded in death by an infant son on November 11, 1970; by a grandson, Daniel A. Montreuil on May 19, 1999; and by two sisters: Caroline Bond in 1989 and Dolores Bingham in 2011.
Surviving are her husband, Elwood E. Scheib, with whom she celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on February 20, 2013; and nine children: Marlene A., wife of Roger Crawford, Wadesboro, N. Carolina; Elaine M., wife of Jerry Sabatini, Troy; Susan E. Montreuil, Frederick, Md.; Laurance J. âLarryâ Scheib, and his wife Song, Bloomsburg; Curtis M. Scheib, Bloomsburg; Carl Scheib, Stillwater; Nancy J., wife of Carl Krouse, Berlin, Wis.; Eric J. Scheib, and his wife Ellie, Fayetteville, N. Carolina; Steven A. Scheib, and his wife Tracey, Wilmington, Del.; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Thomas Pluguez, and his wife Patti, Medford, NJ; and Michael Pluguez, and his wife Joanne, Tomball, Tex.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Marthaâs Catholic Church, 260 Bonnieville Road, Stillwater, on Sat. April 20, 2013 at 1 p. m. by her pastor, the Rev. James A. Rafferty. Interment in the parish cemetery. Viewing at the Church from 12 to 1 p. m.
