ELIZABETH H. "BETTY" PAUL

Elizabeth H. "Betty" Paul, age 90, 351 West Fifth Street, Bloomsburg, died at 12:15 a. m. Saturday, November 21, 2009, at the Fox Sub Acute Center, Warrington, Bucks County where she was a patient for seven months. She was seriously ill for eight months.

Born in Bloomsburg on July 11, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Clarence Bruce and Isabelle M. (Bittenbender) Hartzel.

She was a 1937 graduate of Bloomsburg High School and also attended the former Bloomsburg Normal School.

Betty was employed in the office of the former Breisch's Dairy, Bloomsburg for over 25 years before retiring. She then was employed for about 10 years at the Bon Ton Store in the Columbia Mall before retiring again in 2000.

She was a lifelong member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomsburg where she was a member for over 60 years and the Pal's Class of the Sunday School.

Betty also belonged to the Bloomsburg Women's Civic Club and Ye Olde and New Craftsmen. She was an avid reader, enjoyed doing crafts of all sorts and was an animal lover.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Myron Paul, on November 18, 2002 and by a sister, Isabelle Cope.

Surviving is a son, John Bruce Paul, and his wife Claudia, Willow Grove and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a. m. in Wesley United Methodist Church, Market & West Third Streets, Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Rev. Jay E. Jones officiating. Interment in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 6-8 p. m. at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg or at the Church on Wednesday from 10-11 a. m. Please use West Third Street entrance.
