Elizabeth M. "Betty" Sebasovich, age 93, 39 Sun Valley Drive, Sunbury, ended her lifes journey at 3:15 a. m. Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at the Mountain View Manor Nursing Home, Coal Township, where she resided since May, 2011.
Born on March 14, 1924 in Shamokin, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Catherine (Malloy) Shalongo. She was a 1942 graduate of Coal Township High School and was an avid alumnus who attended every class reunion until health problems prevented her attendance.
Betty spent her early life on Pine Street in Shamokin's West side. In 1948 she married Harry Cronomiz and enjoyed 12 years of marriage in the countryside near Snydertown until Harry's untimely death in 1960. In 1967 she married John Sebasovich, Sr. and resided on Sun Valley Drive, just outside Sunbury, for 43 years.
She worked at several stores in Shamokin in her teens and later worked at Shroyers Dress Factory. She also worked at Champ Hats and Grand Way in Sunbury, but found her niche at Rea & Derrick in Sunbury, where she worked until she was well into her 70's, retiring only to take care of her husband.
Betty was an active member of St. Monica's Catholic Church, Sunbury. She continued living life to the fullest, until illness slowly stole it away.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Sebasovich, Sr., in 2005, and by a brother and sister that died in infancy.
Betty is survived by a son, Gregory Cronomiz, and his fiance Sharon Keihl, Danville; two daughters: Debra, wife of Peter Wentz and Carey, wife of Dean Snyder, all of Wilmington, N.C.; five grandchildren: Kelly, wife of Ben Soltis, Yellow Springs, Ohio; Kimberly, wife of Jon Cullen, Philadelphia; Nic Snyder, Allix Snyder, Peter J. Wentz and wife Alyx, all of North Carolina; two great-grandchildren: Avery Cullen, Philadelphia and Victor Soltis, Ohio; five step-children: John Sebasovich, Jr., and his wife Irene and Joan, wife of Henry Eyer, all of Danville; Carl Sebasovich, and his wife Wendy and Joyce Church, all of Sunbury; Kathy, wife of Mike Kopich, Milton; many step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Kolovich, Danville.
The family wish is that in lieu of flowers, a donation be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 57 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family and Betty will be laid to rest beside her husband, Harry, in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Danville. THere will be no viewing.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1715 Boom Road, Danville.
