Elmer L. “Mac” Marconi, age 88, 25 Shawnee Road, Bloomsburg, died at 2:07 a. m. Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient for thirteen days.
Born in Bloomsburg on September 20, 1928, he was a son of the late Mario M. and Mary Olive (Strausser) Marconi. He was a lifelong resident of the Bloomsburg area.
Mac was employed by the former Pennsylvania Gas & Water Co. for over 25 years, retiring in 1989. Earlier he was employed by the former E. J. O’Brien Plumbing & Heating Co.
He was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg; the Bloomsburg Elks Lodge 436; Lightstreet Community Fire Co.; Bloomsburg Fire Department; and the Valley of Bloomsburg Post 273, American Legion.
Mac enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.
He served with the US Navy during World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jennie Stapleton.
Mac is survived by his wife, the former Alice Hess, with whom he celebrated 66 years of marriage on December 10, 2015 and a brother, Ronald Marconi, and his wife Phoebe, Rohrsburg. He was affectionately known to his many nieces and nephews as “Uncle Mac”.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a. m. in St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron Street, Bloomsburg by Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence. Interment will follow the Mass in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge, where military honors will be accorded by the combined veterans group. Viewing at the Church from 10-11 a. m.
The family will provide flowers. Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association, 1704 Warren Street, Williamsport, Pa 17701.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
