ELOISE W. RUNYAN

Eloise W. Runyan, age 84, formerly of Sassafras Street, Bloomsburg, died at 1:03 p. m. Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at the Bloomsburg Hospital where she was a patient. Previously she was a guest at the Bloomsburg Health Care Center for several years.

Born in Bloomsburg on February 26, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Luther R. and Helen (Wintersteen) Whitenight. She was a lifelong resident of Bloomsburg, graduating from Bloomsburg High School in 1944 and later from the former Geisnger Hospital School of Nursing in Danville.

Eloise was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg and the Bloomsburg Hospital Auxiliary. She was an active volunteer fot the American Red Cross and the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Eloise enjoyed playing golf, quilting and square dancing. She served with the US Army Nurse Corps near the end of World War II.

Her husband, Max E. Runyan, preceded her in death on May 22, 2007.

Surviving are two sons: Joseph M. Runyan, Appleton, Wis.; Dr. John L. Runyan, D.O. and his wife Patricia, Bloomsburg; two grandchildren: Dr. Steven J. Runyan, D.O. and Elizabeth M. Runyan; a sister, Emanell, wife of Wilbur R. Stephens, Bloomsburg and a brother, Dr. John Whitenight, D.O., West Palm Beach, Fla.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Rev. Joel L. Zeiders officiating. Interment in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.
