Elsie R. "Tucker" Geisinger, age 94, of 367 E. First St., Bloomsburg, died at the home of her niece, Dolores "Cookie" Sanders, Orangeville, on Thursday evening and was pronounced dead at 7:58 p.m. She had been in failing health since April.
Born in Scott Township on April 25, 1916, she was a daughter of the late John M. and Nora (Reese) Buck.
A 1934 graduate of the former Orangeville High School, she resided in Bloomsburg since 1940.
Tucker was employed in the meat department of the former A & P Food Market on Market Street, Bloomsburg for 32 years, retiring in 1975. She was employed in the Bloomsburg Fair ticket office for over 25 years, and also assisted her brothers, John and Carl, with their butchering business for many years.
An active member of the Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, Bloomsburg, she served on the Consistory, as president of the Women of Mission, was a former Sunday school teacher and delivered Meals on Wheels.
Tucker was an avid hunter, last hunting in 2009, when she was believed to be the oldest female with a hunting license in Pennsylvania. She shot many deer over the years.
She had a host of friends across the country and was always occupied with helping others, driving friends that were younger than she to medical appointments and doing things for them.
Tucker was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Ralph A. "Rags" Geisinger, on March 16, 1987; by a sister, Eleanor Young, on April 11, 1987; and by three brothers: Roy H. Buck on June 20, 2004; Carl A. "Mike" Buck on August 8, 2001; and John L. Buck on November 21, 1999.
Surviving are a son, William E. Geisinger, and his wife, Marilyn, Jakin, Ga.; three granddaughters: Gretchen, Angela and Beth L.; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, 260 E. Seventh St., Bloomsburg, with her pastor, the Rev. Stephen D. Engelhardt, officiating. Private interment in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Orangeville.
Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, or Monday from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
The family will provide flowers. Memorials may be sent to the building fund of Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ.
