Elwood M. "Bud" Reese
Elwood M. "Bud" Reese, age 87, 910 Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg, died at 11:45 p. m. Saturday, February 9, 2013, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient for five days. He was in failing health for three years.
Born in Berwick on Sept. 1, 1925, he was a son of the late Martin L. and Iva (Herring) Reese. He was a 1943 graduate of Berwick High School and resided in Bloomsburg since 1954.
Bud was employed by the former Magee Carpet Co., Bloomsburg, for many years, retiring in 1987. Earlier in his life he was employed by the former A. C. & F. Co., Berwick, for a number of years.
He was a life member of the Bloomsburg Elks Lodge 436 and of Valley of Bloomsburg Post 273, American Legion.
Bud was an avid sports fan, especially baseball, and routed for the New York Yankees. As a young man he played in the Tri-County League.
He enjoyed bowling, golfing and the time he spent with his family.
He served with the US Army during World War II, taking part in
the Battle of the Bulge.
Surviving are his wife, the former Eleanor Reichard, with whom he celebrated his 58th wedding anniversary on December 3, 2012; three daughters: Dianne E., wife of Daryl Keister, Selinsgrove; Kathleen J., wife of Danny Kashner, Bloomsburg; Robyn L., wife of J. Douglas Klingerman, Orangeville; two grandchildren: Amy, wife of Robert Gelety, Harpers Ferry, West Va. and Douglas A. Kashner, Bloomsburg; two great grandchildren: Courtney Gelety and Colton Gelety; and two sisters: Joyce Rex, Berwick and Peg Klinger, Benton.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Thelma McAfee and Jennie Garrison.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p. m. Wednesday in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Dr. Gary D. Weaver, pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating. Interment in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-2:30 p. m. Elks memorial services will be held at 1 p. m.
