Emily G. Rupert

Emily G. Rupert, age 79, 313 Welliversville Road, Bloomsburg, died at her home at 11:33 a.m. Sunday, June 12, 2016. She was in failing health for the past year.

Born in Danville on January 2, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Laura (Beyer) Mensch. Emily was a 1954 graduate of Danville High School and a 2002 graduate of Bloomsburg University, where she earned her B.A. in Archeology and History with a minor in Genealogy. She lived on Glenn Avenue in Bloomsburg for many years before moving to her current residence last year.

Emily was employed as a cashier for the former Acme Market in Berwick for over 35 years, retiring in 1994.

She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg, where she was involved with WELCA and the Knotter’s Quilting Club.

Emily enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting, traveling and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Rupert on February 13, 2000; a brother, Terry Mensch; and a sister, Judy Noel.

Surviving are two daughters: Gena E. Andress, Orangeville and Terri Kingston, Catawissa; four grandchildren: Destiny, wife of Terry Cornell, with whom she resided; Roy Kingston, wife Laura, Berwick; Chad Andress, wife Erika and Michael Andress, wife Kathleen, all of Bloomsburg; step-grandson, Charles Kingston, wife Dawn, Bloomsburg; 12 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and four siblings: Robert Mensch, Danville; William Mensch, wife Elizabeth and Glenda Shortledge, all of Berwick; Clora, wife of Franklin Rake, Ocala, Fl.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Rev. Dr. Joel L. Zeiders officiating. Interment in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. Viewing at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m.
