Esther Margaret Shaffer

Esther Margaret (Hess) Shaffer, age 94, of Fayetteville and formerly of Bloomsburg left this earth on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019, at the Paramount Senior Living Center in Fayetteville  to join her deceased husband, C. Earl Shaffer, in God's heavenly kingdom.

Born on Sept. 17, 1925 in Fishingcreek Township, she was a daughter of the late Ruric C. and Angie (Beishline) Hess. She was a 1943 graduate of the former Orangeville Vocational High School.  She spent most of her life near Orangeville where she partnered with her husband in the farming/dairy business.

Esther was a member of the Orangeville United Church.  She was an avid reader and loved riding motorcycles and traveling with her husband.  She led a remarkable life. Her pride and joy was her four daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband on June 8, 1992; by four brothers: Sheldon Hess, Allen Hess, Arden Hess, Zender Hess and a sister Elva Eyer.

Surviving are her daughters: Eileen Shaffer, Fayetteville; Suzanne, wife of Dale G. Moore, Orangeville; Gail M. , wife of Rev. David N. Penman, Schwenksville; Penny L. Shaffer, and her wife Shirley, Lebanon; six grandchildren: Jennifer Hill, Jeffrey Bogart, Nadeen Swab; Cale Moore, Bryan Penman, Matthew Penman; six great-grandchildren: Maura Swab, Quinn Swab, Audrey Bogart, Katie Bogart, Paul Penman-Fiore, Connor Hill, and a sister, Elsie Raup, Lancaster.

 A Celebration of Life service will be held in the Orangeville United Church on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, at 11:00 a. m. with her son-in-law, Rev. David N. Penman, retired Lutheran minister officiating.  Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Orangeville. The family will greet friends from 10-11 a. m.
