Ethel M. Savage
Ethel M. Savage, age 87, 320 W. Fourth Street, Bloomsburg, died at 12:30 p. m. Friday, April 5, 2013, at the Grandview Health Homes, Danville, where she resided for two years. Her death followed a brief illness.'
Born In New Columbus, Luzerne County on March 26, 1926, she was the only child of the late Alvin and Ethel (Medland) Doty. She resided in Bloomsburg since 1996 and formerly lived in Lightstreet for 37 years.
Ethel was a 1944 graduate of the former Huntington Mills High School.
She was last employed by the Dillon Floral Corp., Bloomsburg, for 7 years and previously at the former Lady Ester, Corp., Berwick, for15 years.
Ethel was a member of the Lightstreet United Methodist Church. Her Chihuahua, Taco, was her companion and a great comfort to her.
Her husband of 61 years, Floyd C. Savage, preceded her in death on April 16, 2011.
Surviving is her daughter, Beverly A. Hunsinger; a granddaughter, Sonja S., wife of Martin P. Longenberger; and a grandson, Shane M. Cotner, all of Bloomsburg. She was the last of her immediate family.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Rev. Jennifer Parks-Snyder officiating. Interment at the convenience of the family in New Columbus Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1-2 p. m.
