EUGENE L. "GENE" TOURTELLOT
Eugene L. "Gene" Tourtellot, age 82, 118 Old Reading Road, Catawissa, died at 12:55 p. m. on Friday, Jan. 21, 2011 in the emergency room of the Bloomsburg Hospital.
He was born on Aug. 22, 1928 in Mapleville, Rhode Island, the son of the late Benjamin and Florence (Cook) Tourtellot. He resided in the Catawissa area for many years.
Gene was employed as an over the road truck driver most of his life, working for various trucking companies, and was last employed by the former Heritage Motors RV dealership, Bloomsburg.
He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed restoring classic automobiles, as well as spending time at home.
Gene was preceded in death by his wife, the former Rachel (Gloyd) Beach on Dec. 4, 2001 and by two brothers: Norman Tourtellot and Allen Tourtellot.
Surviving are his companion and best friend, Carolyn Tourtellot, Sterling, Conn.; three daughters: Sherrill M. Caito, Land O'Lakes, Fla.; Jeanie P. Wilby, Providence, R.I.; Elizabeth A. Palumbo, New Port Richey, Fla.; a son: Ronald Tourtellot, Chepachet, R.I.; a step-daughter: Susan, wife of Randy Puderbaugh, Bloomsburg; three step-sons: William Beach, and his wife Lori, Washingtonville; Charles E. Beach, and his wife Abby M., Bloomsburg; Robert Beach, Catawissa; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Allen F. Acor, pastor of the Mooresburg-Hendrickson United Methodist Churches officiating. Interment in Hillside Cemetery, Catawissa. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1-2 p. m.
