Beloved wife, mother and grandmother

Faythe M (Hackett) Puterbaugh, age 80, 490 Hackett Road, Benton, died at her home on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 with her loving family by her side. Her death followed a brave battle with an illness that began in January.

Born in Philadelphia on December 20, 1930, she was a daughter of the late James K. and Kathryn E. (Leader) Hackett. .

Faythe was a 1948 graduate of Cheltenham Township High School and a 1951 graduate of the former Bloomsburg State Teacher's College (now Bloomsburg University) where she obtained a bachelor's degree in education. She taught school for three and one half years in Abington, Penn Valley and Salinas, Calif.

Shortly thereafter Faythe filled her life with loving responsibility by supporting her husband at home while he was engaged in his plastering and drywall business. She and her husband raised eight children, all while being a loving and nurturing caregiver to her disabled brother, mother and aunt until their deaths.

Faythe was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1958. She was actively involved in and truly had a love for the public ministry of Jehovah's Witnesses and personally helped many neighbors and friends by teaching them about the Bible's wonderful hope for the future. She was a member of the Jerseytown Congregation, Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses for 40 years before affiliating with the Muhlenburg Congregation

She and her husband, Howard M. Puterbaugh were married for 56 years until his death on September 28, 2010. They raised their large family in Millville where they resided for 40 years before moving to Benton Township in 2004.

Surviving are eight children: Larry Ross, and his wife Debbie, Anchorage, AK; Cheri, wife of David McLucas, Benton; Pamela Puterbaugh, Palm Coast, Fla.; Howard (Randy) Puterbaugh, Benton; Daniel (Dan) Puterbaugh, and his wife Vanessa, Homer, AK; Bonnie, wife of David Bowlin, Benton; Sara Puterbaugh, St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands; Jesse Puterbaugh, Los Angeles, Calif.; 16 grandchildren: T.J. Quinn and Nicole Homsey; Aaron & Jonathan McLucas; Jarrett, Austin, Joshua, Rebecca, Sunny Ann, Jennasea Puterbaugh; Megan Tichenor; Zoe Ross; and Krystal  Duncan; , Dave, Emma and Sam Bowlin. In addition there are seven great-grandchildren: Liliana Quinn, Nicholas and Benjamin Homsey and Ewan, Liam, Kian and Mira McLucas. She is also survived by her cousin and sister at heart, Dorothy Powers, Gwynedd.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca, on July 16, 1970 and by two brothers: James Ross (Billy)  Hackett on November 5, 1981 and Dr. Robert K. Hackett in Dec., 1996.

Faythe was truly a gem, a precious woman and wonderful mother who had the ability to make everyone open their hearts to her  and feel loved and cared for. She was an excellent listener, a gifted teacher, a faithful loving wife and a dear friend to many people who will miss her greatly and remember her with deep fondness and love.

A public memorial service will be held on Saturday at 3 p. m., September 24, 2011, at the Mifflinville Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, West Street, Mifflinville with Scott Watkins presiding. There will be no viewing. Interment will be made at the convenience of the family in Waller Cemetery, Jackson Township.
