FLORENCE  A.  CLOSSEN

Florence A. Clossen, age 91, Sponenberg Hill Road, Bloomsburg, died early Saturday at the Emmanuel Center For Nursing, Danville, where she was a patient for almost two weeks.

Born in Brandonville, Schuylkill County, on April 23, 1920, she was a daughter of the late James and Annie Ethel (Trexler) Albright.

She was a 1936 graduate of the former Catawissa High School where she was the class salutatorian. She resided in the Lightstreet area for more than 70 years.

Florence was last employed by Milco Industries, Inc., Bloomsburg, working there for 15 years, retiring in 1985.

She was a longtime member of the Hidlay Lutheran Church, North Centre Township,  where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the former Ladies Aide group.

Florence was also a member of Bloomsburg Chapter 279, Order of Eastern Star and a former 4-H Club leader.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl J. Clossen on Jan. 14, 2005; by a grandson, Jeffrey D. Dent, Danville, on March 4, 2007, a sister, Alice Houser and a brother, George Bucher.

Florence is survived by nine children: Elaine, wife of Leon Deemer, Elverson; Dale J. Clossen, Bloomsburg; Carol, wife of Richard Burley, Muncy; Joyce, wife of James Reeder, Danville; Judy C., wife of James T. Connolley, Danville; Nancy, wife of Robert Keller, Catawissa; Dean C. Clossen, wife Sandra, Mifflinville; Kathy, wife of Robert Miller, Catawissa; Patti, wife of Charles Henrie, III, Catawissa; 22 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Ruth Conti, Girardville and Barbara (Bucher) Lewis, Catawissa.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Rev. Melody Sell officiating. Interment in Hidlay Cemetery, North Centre Township.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 p. m. Eastern Star memorial services at 7:30 p. m.
