FLOYD C. SAVAGE
Floyd C. Savage, age 84, 320 W. Fourth St., Bloomsburg, died at 12:45 p. m., Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Grandview Health Homes, Danville, where he was a guest since July 16, 2010. He was in failing health for several years.
Born in Fishingcreek (correct) Township on June 12, 1926, he was a son of the late Henry and Jessie (Shultz) Savage. He resided in Lightsreet for 37 years before moving to Bloomsburg in 1996.
Floyd was employed by the Dillon Floral Corp., for 48 years retiring in 2003. He worked on the Dillon farm in Scott Township for many years before becoming a rose grader.
He was a longtime member of the Lightsreet United Methodist Church and the Valley of Bloomsburg Post 273, American Legion.
Floyd served with the US Army Air Force during World War II.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time with his great-grandson and playing with his puppy.
He is survived by his wife, the former Ethel M. Doty, with whom he celebrated his 61st wedding anniversary on Dec. 10, 2010, and she also resides at Grandview Health Homes; a daughter, Beverly A. Hunsinger, at home; a granddaughter, Sonja S., wife of Martin P. Longenberger, Bloomsburg; and a great- grandson, Shane M. Cotner, also of Bloomsburg. He was the last of his immediate family and is survived additionally by several nieces and nephews.
Floyd was preceded in death by four brothers: Carlton Savage, Melvin Savage, Isaac Savage, Furman Doty and by three sisters: Lena Savage, Nettie Bogert and Mary Butler.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Rev. Jennifer Parks-Snyder officiating. Interment will be made privately at the convenience of the family in New Columbus Cemetery, Luzerne County.
A visitation will be held on Thursday from 1-2 p. m.
