Floyd G. Shepperson, Sr., age 85, 23 Alton Street, Danville, died unexpectedly at his home and was pronounced dead on Monday, September 30, 2013.
Bornn in Danville on October 18, 1927, he was a son of the late Allen C. and Catherine (Horn) Shepperson. He spent his entire life in Danville and attended the Danville High School.
Floyd was employed at Danville State Hospital; Merck & Co., Riverside; the former Kennedy VanSauen Co., Danville, until 1975; and was a nursing assistant at Geisinger Medical Center from 1976 to 1979 when he became Superintendent of Transport Services , retiring in 1989.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Danville; the Danville Elks Lodge; Danville Moose Lodge; Washington âWashiesâ Fire & Hose Co. #2; and the Six County Firemanâs Association.
Floyd was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the many fishing trips he made to Canada.
He served his country as a member of the US Army Air Force during World War II.
Floyd was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary Jane Whitling on July 15, 2006; by three brothers: Lee Shepperson, Parvin Shepperson, Walter Shepperson; and a sister: Ruth Shepperson.
Surviving are three children: Madeline Lavern, wife of William Lang, Catawissa; George T. Shepperson, and his wife Kathy May, Laughlin, Nev.; Floyd G. Shepperson, Jr., and his wife Tammy, Paxinos; two step-children: Ira P. âBudâ Renn, and his wife Zellette, Turbotville and Timothy A. Renn, Sunbury; five grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; three brothers: Robert Shepperson, and his wife Donna, Louisville, Ken.; Fred Shepperson, and his wife Gloria, Danville; Joseph Shepperson, and his wife Donna, Danville; three sisters: Faye Evans, Danville; Naomi Wynn, Independence, Mo.; Kathy Shepperson, Longmont, Colo.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a. m. in the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1715 Bloom Road, Danville, with Rev. Donna Homiak officiating. Interment in the Episcopal Cemetery, Danville, with military honors by the American Legion Post 40 Honor Guard. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 p. m.
