Franklin E. Derr
Franklin E. Derr, age 88, 19 Derr Road, Danville, died 3:05 a. am. Saturday, December 21, 2013 at the Grandview Health Homes, Danville, where he resided since August. He had been in failing health for three and a half years.
Born in Hemlock Township on June 25, 1925, he was a son of the late Clarence E. and Hazel (Brobst) Derr. He resided in Rush Township, Northumberland County since 1950.
Frank was a self employed cattle dealer and also farmed all of his lifetime.
He was a member of the Klinesgrove United Methodist Church, near Sunbury, and a life member of the Southside Fire Co., Riverside and the Stonington Fire Co., Stonington.
Frank served with the US Army in Germany during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Phyllis J Greenly on October 15, 1993; by a brother, Leroy C. Derr; and by three sisters: Ethel M. Correll; Isabel I. Shultz; and Esther G. Sandel.
Surviving are a son, Bradley S. Derr, and his wife Debra, Danville; a daughter, Priscilla A., wife of Kelly L. Green, Catawissa; one grandson; two step-grandchildren; a brother, Paul E. Derr, and his wife Harriet, Bloomsburg; and his companion of 19 years, Ruth Amacher, Washingtonville.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 7:30 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Allen F. Acor, pastor of the Hendrickson-Mooresburg United Methoodist Charge officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.
Viewing will be on Friday from 6 - 7:30 p. m.
