G. WILLIAM CAREY
G. William Carey, age 92, formerly of R. R. #3, Berwick, died at 6:24 p. m. Thursday, November 12, 2009 at the Grandview Health Homes, Danville, where he was a guest for five years.
Born on February 18, 1917 in Berwick, he was a son of the late Frank and Louella Mae (Stout) Carey. He resided in the Berwick area all of his life and was a 1936 graduate of Berwick High School.
Mr. Cary was last employed by the Wise Borden Food, Co., Berwick for over 25 years and was the maintenance manager when he retired in 1977. Earlier he was employed by the former AC & F, Co. and the former P. M. Greenly Construction, both of Berwick.
He was a life social member of the Defender's Fire Co., Berwick and enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and listening to classical music.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Eleanor Greenly on August 1, 1999.
Surviving are a son, William G. Carey, Jr., and his wife, Larraine, Berwick; a daughter, Pamela C., wife of Jack R. Bower, Catawissa; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was the last of a family of seven children.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
