Gail L. (Buckingham) Worthington, age 74, of 4 Kent Road, Bloomsburg, died peacefully on Wednesday morning, October 5, 2022, at the Sunset Ridge Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Scott Township.
She was born in Sayre on August 31, 1948, a daughter of the late Boyd F., Sr. and Joanna (Fice) Buckingham.
Gail moved to Bloomsburg in 1953. She attended the Benjamin Franklin School at the former Bloomsburg State Teachers College before graduating from Bloomsburg High School in 1966. She went on to graduate from Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove in 1970.
She was last employed by the Columbia-Sullivan Head Start Program as a supervisor, retiring in December, 2016 after 20 years of service. Earlier she was employed as Director of the Foster Parent Program in Montgomery County, PA for 15 years.
Gail was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church where she served on the Pre-School Board. She also was an active member of P. E. O. Chapter C-I. She enjoyed playing pinochle and was a member of several pinochle card clubs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Frank Worthington on April 15, 2018.
Gail is survived by three children: Jody, wife of Mike Williams, with whom she resided, Christopher F. Worthington and his wife Jennifer of Harleysville, Dana, wife of Jon Meyers, Souderton; five grandchildren: Mason Worthington, Madison Worthington, Emily Meyers, Julie Meyers, Natalie Meyers; and a brother Boyd F. Buckingham, Jr., and his wife Karen of Washington state.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:30 a. m. in St. Luke Lutheran Church, 9 St. Luke’s Way, Bloomsburg with her pastor, Rev. John A. Mohan officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11:30 a. m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to her Church at the above address or to P. E. O. Chapter C-I, c/o of Wanda Sheatler, 158 Camp Road, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
