Gary D. Sinnott, age 80, of 615 Crestwood Dr., Bloomsburg, passed away on Thursday October 20, 2022 at Grandview Nursing & Rehabilitation in Danville, where he had resided since September 22, 2022.
Born in Nanticoke on August 6, 1942, he was the son of the late Andrew and Margaret (Rowan) Sinnott. He was a 1959 graduate of Hanover Area High School and he resided in the Bloomsburg area since 1970.
Gary was employed by Geisinger Medical Center in Danville for 44 years, retiring in 2004. At the time of his retirement, he was Director of Programming.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1964 and was stationed in the Panama Canal for 2 ½ years.
Gary was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church in Bloomsburg, where he was also a lector, greeter, and a Sunday School teacher. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus.
Gary was a baseball and softball umpire for 42 years and the president of the Bloomsburg Little League for 10 years. He often volunteered at Bloomsburg University sporting events, collecting tickets and assisting in any way he could. Gary was also a Philadelphia Phillies fan and loved to watch baseball games on television.
He was an avid runner, loved Superman, and ate Wheaties for breakfast for 77 years.
The family would like to thank the Foust family and the McFarland family for their support and friendship.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Martin Sinnott and Myles Sinnott.
Surviving is his wife, Pamela M. (Coach) Sinnott, with whom he would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on November 25, 2022; a son, Dale P. Sinnott, and his wife Debbie, of Olney, MD; a daughter, Tina, wife of Michael Tarvin, of New Tripoli; eight grandchildren: Steven, Taylor, Skyler, Molly, Kelly, William, Kyle, and Cameron; and three brothers: Joseph A. Sinnott, and his wife Roberta, of Chandler, AZ, Rev. Andrew Sinnott, of Mountain Top, and Kevin Sinnott, of Breslau.
A Con-Celebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday October 25, 2022 at 11 a.m. in St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron St., Bloomsburg, with his brother, Rev. Andrew Sinnott and his pastor, Rev. Richard J. Mowery, officiating. Interment will follow in Old Rosemont Cemetery, Bloomsburg. Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bloomsburg Little League, P.O. Box 26, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
