Genevieve H. Wanich, age 88, formerly of Columbia Ave., Bloomsburg, died at 2:43 a.m. Monday, January 26, 2015 at the Bonham Nursing Center, Stillwater, where she had been a patient since July of 2013.
Born in Bloomsburg on April 11, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Harry G. and Ruth (Kessler) Hartman. She resided in Bloomsburg her entire life, and was a 1944 graduate of Bloomsburg High School. Early in her life she was employed by the former Farmers National Bank for several years.
Genevieve was a long-time active member of the Lightstreet United Methodist Church; where she served as a Sunday school teacher, member of the choir, director of the childrenâs choir, and supervised the acolytes. She also organized the Lenton teas for 25 years. She participated in the Berwick YMCA senior swimmers group.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John G. âJakeâ Wanich on October 26, 2009.
Surviving are a daughter, Christine K., wife of Robert Bradway, King of Prussia; a son, John G. Wanich, II, Bloomsburg; a grandson, Adam Bradway, King of Prussia; and two brother-in-laws: M. Clair Wanich, wife Deloris, Berwick and John Dudeck, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 7 at 11 a.m. in the Lightstreet United Methodist Church. Interment will be made in the Lightstreet âHighlandâ Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing.
