Genovese T. "Gen" Johnson Kirby

Genovese T. “Gen” Johnson Kirby, age 85, of Mill St., Orangeville, died late Wednesday evening March 19, 2025 at her home.

Born on October 2, 1939 in Tabor City, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Simon J. and Louannie (Coleman) Troup. She resided in Orangeville since 1959. She was a graduate of the former Commerical High School in Savannah, Georgia in 1957.

Gen was last employed by the former Orangeville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center as a Licensed Practical Nurse for 20 years, retiring in May 2002. Earlier, she was employed at the former Bloomsburg Hospital for nine years.

She was a member of the former Faith Bible Church in Orangeville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Lloyd E. Johnson, on February 2, 2000, and Wallace H. Kirby, Sr., on July 9, 2017; and a brother, John C. Troup on July 9, 2012.

Surviving are five children: Sharon L. Johnson, at home, Michael L. Johnson, and his husband Terry Crouse, of Huntingdon, Penny D. Morris, and her fiancé Todd Knecht, at home, Laurinda A. Curtis, of Brockton, Massachusetts, Courtney D., wife of William Robson, of Williamsport; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday March 24, 2025 at 11 a.m. in the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with her grandson, Aaron Michael Johnson, officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Orangeville. Friends may call on Monday from 10-11 a.m.
