George Frederick Gottshall

George F. Gottshall, age 75, 2943 White Birch Lane, Bloomsburg, died at 1:14 p. m. Thursday, October 25, 2012,  at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville  where he was a patient for one week.

Born in Berwick on September 1, 1937, he was a son of the late George and Helen (Bankes) Gottshall. He was a 1956 graduate of Berwick High School and resided in Almedia since 1966.

George was employed by the former Catawissa Lumber & Specialty Co., Catawissa for 37 years, retiring September 1, 1999.

He was a member of the West Berwick Hose Co.; Fishingcreek Sportsman’s Association and the National Rifle Association.

George enjoyed vacationing in Bar Harbor, Maine, hunting, fishing and camping with his family and friends. He served with the US Air Force from 1957 to 1961.

He was preceded in death by two sisters: Laura Mae and Gloria; a brother Barton  L. Gottshall and a half-brother, Charles Naus.

Surviving are his wife, the former Sally A. Derr, with whom he would have celebrated his 49th wedding anniversary on November 29, 2012; two sons: George F. Gottshall, Jr., and his wife Kathy, Milton and William J. “Bill” Gottshall, Mifflinville; two grandsons: Brian Gottshall and George Gottshall; two sisters: Joanne Pasquale and Dorothy, wife of Daniel L. Grasley,  all of Berwick; two sisters-in-law: Sharon Gottshall, Benton and Elizabeth Brostrand, Perryville, Md. and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 5, 2012 in Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, 706 Central Road, Bloomsburg, with Pastor John D. Kolenda officiating. There will be no viewing or calling hours.

The family will provide flowers. Memorials may be sent to either Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, 706 Central Road, Bloomsburg, PA 17815  or the American Cancer Society, 1420 N. Susquehanna Trail, Selinsgrove, PA 17870.
