Gerard P. McDonald
Gerard P. McDonald, age 84, 257 Ashton Hollow Road, Catawissa, died at 9:30 a. m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at the Geisinger-Bloomsburg Health Care Center where he was a patient for several days. He was in failing health for the past year.
Born in Brooklyn, New York on October 16, 1928, he was a son of the late Peter F. and Blanche T. (Stein) McDonald.
Gerard was employed by the U. S. Postal Service in New York and also by the New York Racing Association. Following his retirement, he moved to Florida where he broadcast the Toronto Blue Jays spring training games for a number of years. He resided in St. Petersburg until moving to Cleveland Township last year.
He was of the Roman Catholic faith.
Gerard served with the US Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Europe.
He is survived by a brother, Robert F. McDonald, and his wife Dorothy, Bronx, New York; a sister, Clare, wife of Arthur B. MacMahon, with whom he resided in Cleveland Township; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
