Glenn M. Spayde

Glenn M. Spayde, age 85, 240 Crabapple Lane, Bloomsburg, went to be with his Lord at 10:27 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2014 at Balanced Care at Bloomsburg, a nursing facility in Scott Township, where he was a patient since July 19. He was in failing health for ten years.

Born in Bloomsburg on February 6, 1929, he was a son of the late Lester F. and Grace I. (Byrem) Spayde.

Glenn was last employed by Magee Reiter Carpet Co. and its predecessor, Magee Carpet Co. for 57 years, retiring in 2004. He also worked part-time at the former Schutt's Nursery in Scott Township for many years and mowed lawns for a number of people.

He served with the US Army in Korea during the Korean War, serving from 1950 to 1952.

Glenn was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Coombe.

Surviving are his wife, the former Wanda J. Pursel, with whom he celebrated his 61st wedding anniversary on November 21, 2013; a daughter, Debra A. Crawford, Bloomsburg; two grandsons: Jason L. Crawford, and his wife Barbara and Bryan G. Crawford, and his wife Kimberly and three great-grandchildren: Kaitlynne, Trystan and Payton, all of Bloomsburg. He was the last of his immediate family and is also survived by five nephews and nieces and their families.

At the request of the family, there will be no funeral services or viewing.
