Goldie A. Bennett
Goldie A. Bennett, age 85, 139 Railroad St., Bloomsburg, died at 10:15 p. m. Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Columbia Montour Hospice At Maria Hall, Danville, where she was patient for 2 days.
Born in Kulpmont on April 13, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Agnes (Jacubec) Forktus. She resided in Bloomsburg since 1946.
Goldie was a 1944 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School and was employed in the book store at Bloomsburg University for 12 years until retiring in 1991.
She was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg and the Catholic Daughters group at the Church.
Goldie was preceded in death by her husband, Milton C. Bennett on March 13, 2012; by a daughter, Cynthia Anne Bennett on November 16, 1948 and a brother, Edward Forktus, Jr.
Surviving are five sons: Curtis M. Bennett, and his wife Susan, Danville; Dennis E. Bennett, Lehigh Acres, Fla.; Christopher F. Bennett, White Marsh, Md.; Thomas S. Bennett, Danville; Gregory J. Bennett, and his wife Sandy, Bloomsburg; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Stephen Forktus, and his wife Josephine, Raritan, N.J.; and a sister in law, Pauline Forktus, Bound Brook, N.J.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a. m. Saturday in St. Columbia Catholic Church 342 Iron St., Bloomsburg, by his pastor, Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence. Interment in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.
Friends may call on Friday from 6-8 p. m. at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg. Christian Wake services will be held at 6 p. m.
