Grace S. Klees, age 90, 38 Mateo Drive, Danville, died at 12:50 p. m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2014 at the Emmanuel Nursing Center, Danville, where she was a patient for one week.
Born on Sept. 25, 1923 in Cleveland Township, Columbia County, she was a daughter of the late C. Victor and Ora Elizabeth (Thomas) Small. She resided at her present home since May, 2002 and previously resided in Fernville for 49 years.
Grace was a 1941 graduate of the former Locust Township High School in Numidia.
She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg, where taught in the Vacation Bible School. Early in her life she was a member of the former St. Paulâs EUB Church, Esther Furnace, where she served as a pianist, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
Grace loved visits from her family, reading Christian novels, doing needlework and raising her beautiful African violets. She was deeply loved and will be missed by all.
Surviving are husband, Warren G. Klees, with whom she celebrated her 62nd wedding anniversary on June 29, 2013; a son, David L. Klees, and his wife Lorraine, Harrisburg; a grandson, Michael J. Klees, Tunkhannock; a granddaughter, Alicia M. Klees, State College; two sisters (twins): Doris Tomashefski, Espy and Dolores, wife of Guy Reese, Catawissa; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Grace was preceded in death by three sisters: Leona Hampton and twins: Fae Frances and Zae Haas.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a. m. in the Chapel of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 123 N. Market St., Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Rev. Dr. Joel L. Zeiders officiating. Interment in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. Viewing will be in the Church parlor, from 10-11 a. m.
