Dr. Harish R. Dave, M.D.

Harish R. Dave, M. D., age 78, of Danville, died peacefully on Saturday evening, April 1, 2023, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville surrounded by his family and close friends.

Born in Bharuch, India on June 30, 1944, he was the son of the late Rasiklal and Lilavati (Bhatt) Dave.

He received his M. B. B. S. degree from Gujarat University in 1968 and his Specialisation in Therapeutic Radiation Oncology from the American Board of Radiology in 1976.

Dr. Dave immigrated to the United States in May, 1971 and became a United States citizen in July, 1976. He began his medical career in the United States at the Euclid General Hospital in Euclid, Ohio in May, 1971. Later, he successfully completed ECFMG Certification, FLEX and State Board of Medicine Exam in Florida which enabled him to practice medicine in any state in the United States. He completed an internship and residency in Radiation Oncology at Ohio State University Hospital and Fellowship at Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York City. Finally, he became Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Radiation Oncology.

He practiced medicine in Delaware for two years before joining the U. S. Army serving as a Major at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D. C. where he served for five years.

Dr. Dave moved to Danville in 1983 and was employed by Danville State Hospital until retiring in June, 2014.

Surviving is his wife, the former Daksha Thaker; twin daughters: Ami, wife of Anand Dash, Sparta, New Jersey and Arti, wife of Tapaswin Thaker, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; four grandchildren: Sahana, Kareena, Sonia and Bianca; and a sister, Priyamvada Trivedi, Flushing, New York.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a. m. in the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1133 Bloom Road, Danville. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 40 of Danville.
