Hariteeny G. “Teeny” (Gialamas) Fritz, age 93, formerly of Bloomsburg, died early Friday April 21, 2023 at Vintage Knolls Senior Living in Danville.
Born on July 22, 1929, she was one of the last babies born at the old Bloomsburg Hospital on Fifth Street. She was the daughter of the late Basil “William” and Bessie (Matsikas) Gialamas.
A 1947 graduate of Danville High School, she took several business and computer courses at Bloomsburg State College. She was a lifelong resident of the Bloomsburg area, except for the period from 1939 to 1947 when she resided in Danville.
She was employed by her father at the former Gialamas Confectionery Store on East Main St., Bloomsburg, until her marriage in 1950. She was employed by Bell Telephone Co. until 1958. She retired from PNC Bank after nearly 20 years of service in December of 1991.
She was an active member of the Altar Guild of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Bloomsburg for many years and attended that parish since childhood.
After her retirement, Teeny traveled extensively. She was a volunteer tutor for Laubach Literacy and delivered Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed baking and cross stitch.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Fritz, on June 5, 1982; a granddaughter, Jeanie Marie Fritz, on December 5, 1987; a great-grandson, Benjamin Bucher, February 26, 2008; and a sister, Betty P. Gorline.
Surviving is a son, Nicholas P. Fritz, Bloomsburg; daughter, Susan E., wife of Richard Clark, Bloomsburg; son, John W. Fritz, and his wife Sue, Roswell, GA; son, James M. Fritz, Berwick; stepdaughter, Sandra, wife of Dale Strauser, Bethlehem; stepson, Dennis P. Fritz, and his wife Lois, Fountain Hill; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; and two nephews.
A Requiem Eucharist will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at 1 p.m. in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 101 E. Main St., Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Rev. Allison Carnahan, officiating. Following the service, a brief gathering will be held in the church hall. Burial will follow in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the memorial fund of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
