Harold L. Harris, age 92, 3766 Red Maple Lane, Bloomsburg, died at 11:23 a. m. Saturday, May 4, 2013, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, following a brief illness.

Born at Hickory Corners, Lower Mahanoy Township, Northumberland County on July 20, 1920, he was a son of the late George W. and Grace E. (Lehman) Harris. He resided in Scott Township since 1970 and previously lived in New Cumberland for 13 years.

Harold was a 1936 graduate of the former Lower Mahanoy Township High School.  He served with the US Army during World War II  from 1944 to 1946 with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.  Following his military service, he attended and graduated from Penn State University with a B.S. degree in Architectual Engineering. He was employed by the PPL Electrical Utilities for 32 years as a registered professional engineer, retiring in 1983.

A long time member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg, he was a life member of the American Legion Post 504, Dalmatia; Moose Lodge 307, Chickies Rock; and Bloomsburg Elks Lodge 436. For many years he attended  Penn State Univeristy home football games.

Surviving are his wife, the former Rita M. Wilkinson, with whom he celebrated his 70th wedding anniversary on November 21, 2012; a  son, G. Michael Harris, and his wife Mollie, Bloomsburg; a daughter, Rose Ann, wife of George Leavesley, Littleton, Colo; two grandchildren: Brian Leavesley  and Megan Harris; three siblings: Gene I. Harris, and his wife Shirley, Dalmatia; Ruby C. Moyer, Northumberland; Wendell Harris, and his wife Linda, New Cumberland. He was preceded in death by  a brother, Clark D. Harris.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at 3 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Rev. Dr. Joel L. Zeiders officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p. m. Interment at the convenience of the family in Stone Valley Cemetery, Lower Mahanoy Township, Northumberland County.

The family will provide flowers. Memorials may be sent to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 123 N. Market Street, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
