Harold W. "Tex" Sinclair

Harold W. “Tex” Sinclair, age 78, 80 Ridge Road, Catawissa, died at 4:15 p. m. Monday, May 12, 2014 at his home after a long battle with cancer. His loving wife and family were at his bedside.

Born on Sept. 22, 1935 in Floydada, Texas, he was a son of the late Harry and Myrtle (Sandfer) Sinclair. He attended Petersburg High School, Petersburg, Texas, before joining the US Navy Reserve and later he served in the US Army during the Korean War.

Harold was a licensed plumber and was last employed by Merck & Co., at their Cherokee plant in Riverside, retiring after 20 years  employment  in 1992. Following his retirement, he continued to be associated with Merck as a consultant.

He was a member of Columbia Valley  Moose Lodge 623 and Elks Lodge 436, both of Bloomsburg;   American Legion Post 541 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8306, both of Catawissa; and the Bent Barrel Sportsman’s Club, Wellsboro.

Harold loved mowing his lawn with his old John Deere , gardening, “shooting the bull” with his best friends, Jocco and Jim Harris, and caring for his beloved Pugs, Buddy and Polly.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Deanna Marie Sinclair; a grandson, William P. “Will” Sinclair on Nov. 30, 2006;  a sister, Edith Amonette and a nephew, Carl Amonette.

Harold is survived by his wife of  57 years, the former Patricia D. Meador; three daughters: Regina Sinclair and Cindy, wife of Thomas Pratt, both of Ephrata; Jeannette, wife of Dwayne Stout, Bloomsburg; two sons: Patrick Sinclair, Amarillo, Texas and James Sinclair, Fairbanks, Alaska; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen, wife of Joe McWhorter, Friona, Texas; and a brother, Kenneth Sinclair, wife Estelle, Abilene, Texas.

A memorial gathering and dinner will take place at the Catawissa VFW Post 8306, 121 Railroad Street, Catawissa on Friday, May 23 at 6 p.m. Private burial will take place at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that  donations be sent to the American Cancer Society, 1420 N. Susquehanna Trail, Selinsgrove, PA 17870.
